The biggest fundraising appeal in the history of Thames Hospice is now live! We kicked off our Raise the Roof appeal in Windsor on Saturday 7 September 2019.
Joining us at Windsor was the Mayor of Windsor and Councillor, Mrs Sayonara Luxton and beloved TV star, Sue Holderness and Thames Hospice ambassador, Kate Atkinson, who spoke movingly about how we cared for her sister, Hattie between 2013 to 2014. There were a range of fabulous cakes, face painting, live music and a raffle. if you were in Windsor town centre, you may have even spotted some of our green t-shirted staff dancing, including a beautiful butterfly and twinkle toed tiger!
Sunday 8 September we had simultaneous launches at our lovely Old Amersham, Uxbridge and Henley shops! Visitors to the shops had the chance to take part in raffles and enjoy some delectable homemade sweet and savoury treats from scones at Uxbridge to chocolate orange truffles at Henley! Uxbridge was delighted to welcome special guests, the Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Hillingdon and Henley, the Mayor of Henley.
Monday 9 September we had a fabulous time at the store in Gerrards Cross, with special guests TV star Rosemarie Ford and Chair of Parish Council, Chris Brown. Visitors were treated to some tasty cakes and a raffle with some fabulous prizes.
Next stops for the roadshow: all of this week we'll be visiting shops plus a few very special guests including 'Tracey Beaker' TV star Dani Harmer at Bracknell; TV actress and 'Only Fools and Horses' star, Sue Holderness at Dedworth; Goodies TV star and actor, Tim Brooke-Taylor in Wokingham and BAFTA winning documentary maker and actor Ross Kemp in Maidenhead!
What is 'Raise the Roof'?
Our Raise the Roof appeal is to raise vital funds for the new hospice build and care: we provide all services free of charge to patients and their families. With our new hospice, we'll be able to help even more people in the community. If you would like to help, please visit our Get Involved page.
