Celebrating International Nurses Day and Dying Matters Week

This week we celebrated International Nurses Day at the Hospice, saying a a big thank you to our amazing Thames Hospice nurses. We are so proud of our nursing teams who work in the Hospice and out in our community, working around the clock providing compassionate care and support to local people.

This week was also Dying Matters Week, an annual campaign to raise public awareness about the importance of talking more openly about dying, death and bereavement. This year's theme is 'Dying To Be Heard'.

How many people want to talk about death, but feel they have no one to talk to about it? Our Patient and Family Support Team are here to provide emotional support to our patients and families. Click here for further information about the support we offer and resources on bereavement.

You can also share your thoughts and comments about death and grief on the Dying Matters Pledge Wall. You can get involved by making a pledge to have a conversation with a friend or create an advanced care plan, or you can simply write down your feelings to share with others.
